Former U.S. President and current presidential candidate Donald Trump has once again expressed his strong support for cryptocurrency. He warned, “If we don’t embrace it, China will dominate the industry.” Trump also disclosed plans to launch a fourth non-fungible token (NFT) collection, noting that nearly all transactions for his previous NFTs were conducted using cryptocurrency, which he referred to as a “new currency.” He remarked, “It opened my eyes.”

In an interview with Bloomberg, published on Tuesday, Trump discussed his evolving stance on cryptocurrency. The interview took place on June 25 at his Mar-a-Lago golf club in Palm Beach, Florida, shortly before the first 2024 presidential debate and just weeks before an attempted assassination. Trump addressed his transition from crypto skepticism to becoming a prominent advocate within the crypto community, stressing the importance of conducting crypto mining within the U.S.
“If we don’t do it, China will, and they’re already deeply involved. It’s not going away. It’s amazing,” Trump said, recalling interactions with industry leaders, including a fundraiser in San Francisco on June 6. He emphasized:
“Now, if I dismiss it, another country, most likely China, will take over. They are quite advanced in this field. We need to consider what’s best for our country.”

Trump elaborated on his successful NFT collections, revealing that most payments were made in cryptocurrency. “80% of the money came from crypto. It was incredible,” Trump highlighted, mentioning the quick sell-out of his NFTs. “We had a year to sell out, but it took just one day. All 45,000 cards were gone. I did this three times,” he added.

Plans for a New NFT Collection
“I’m planning another collection because the demand is there. The enthusiasm is incredible. But what really struck me was the overwhelming use of crypto for payments,” Trump said.
Trump underscored the importance of the U.S. leading in the crypto sphere to prevent other countries from taking the lead. “We have a solid foundation, though it’s still in its infancy. I don’t want to see another country take over this field. We’re positioned to excel. I’ve met some of the industry’s best minds. Even Jamie Dimon, once a critic, has softened his stance,” Trump concluded.
