The global number of Bitcoin ATMs is surging once again, nearing its record levels. According to data from Coin ATM Radar, there are currently 38,279 crypto ATMs in operation worldwide. This figure is close to the all-time high of 39,541 devices recorded in December 2022.
Market Recovery Fuels Crypto ATM Growth

Amidst the recent recovery of the cryptocurrency market over the past 11 months, nearly 6,000 new crypto ATMs have been installed. These machines are spread across 72 countries and produced by 43 different companies. During the bear market from the second half of 2022 through July 2023, the number of crypto ATMs significantly declined, dropping below the 33,000 mark.
A chart from Coin ATM Radar highlights the number of Bitcoin ATMs from 2014 to 2024, illustrating the growth and decline trends. In 2024 alone, 2,564 new crypto ATMs have been installed, while 2,861 devices were decommissioned in 2023.
Leading Countries in Crypto ATM Deployment

The United States leads the world with 31,916 crypto ATMs. Canada follows in second place with 3,024 devices, while Australia ranks third with 1,107 machines. Notably, Australia is on track to surpass Europe’s count of 1,584 Bitcoin ATMs if it maintains its current growth trajectory, having surpassed the 1,000 mark in April this year.
El Salvador, which in 2021 became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, has 215 crypto ATMs.

Most Popular Cryptocurrencies in ATMs
Bitcoin remains the most widely supported cryptocurrency in these ATMs, being available on almost all devices. Ethereum is also widely used across these machines.
The increasing number of cryptocurrency ATMs highlights the growing interest in digital currencies and their expanding use worldwide. The United States, Canada, and Australia continue to lead the way in the deployment of these machines.
